How to be Unforgettable

Most of us are familiar with Nat King Cole’s song Unforgettable. But have we stopped to think about what does it really mean to be unforgettable? Coco Chanel talked a lot about fashion being unforgettable. The dictionary describes being unforgettable as something being so meaningful and important that you could never forget it. Something unforgettable can stay forever in your memory, like your first kiss or your mother’s home cooking. What is something in your mind that you would say is unforgettable? Each of us have the capability to make a difference in the world and be unforgettable.

Recently, I had the opportunity to spend time with my son and his family and we watched John Maxwell, one of the leading experts on leadership talk about being unforgettable, and it made me question if I was unforgettable. It is my desire to use the dash between the day I was born and the day I go home to heaven to be unforgettable. I do not mean in a selfish or egotistical way, but in a way to make a difference in the people’s lives that cross my path. In order for us to be unforgettable, we must be intentional in what we do each and every day. We must get up and make up our mind that we are going to find a way to touch other people’s lives in a positive way. Remember, what Maya Angelou said, people may not remember what you say or what you do, but they will never forget how you made them feel.

To live a life that is unforgettable we must understand our meaning, message and mission so we can share it with others and hope that it has a lasting effect. As we live out our purpose filled lives in an exceptional way, and impact the lives of others by helping them achieve their goals and dreams, we are on the proper path of becoming unforgettable. It is important that we each pause and think about why we want to be unforgettable and what is our motive? If it is about helping to make the lives of others better, then we are doing the right thing. It would be amazing if people started trying to see how they could outdo one another by doing good to others.

To truly make an impact on the world and play an unforgettable role in the lives of others all we must do is just give of ourselves. Super salesman Zig Ziglar once said, “The way to get what you want is to help others get what they want. When you are optimistic, reliable, trustworthy, and passionate about helping others get what they want you are paving a smooth road to being unforgettable. Service to others is the key to true success and your legacy will be unforgettable. Would you join me on the path to making a difference in the lives of others in a positive way and developing an unforgettable legacy?
