What is Your Signature Method Program?

Recently I was reading an article from the Tory Burch Foundation (TBF) newsletter that talked about if you are an entrepreneur and you want to scale your business it is important to develop a signature method program. I have developed several programs over the course of my career, but I never thought about them as signature or having a method to them. The more I thought about this phrase I came to realize that a signature method program is your secret sauce and what you can do for others that differs from the way any other person could deliver. Sometimes it may take a while for us to realize what our secret sauce is, but when we do it is absolutely amazing.
The TBF mission is to empower women entrepreneurs to build and sustain successful businesses, ultimately increasing their economic power. They do this by providing access to capital, education, and community. Their goal is to help women scale their businesses, lead with greater impact, and shape the economy. As I reflected on their work, I realized that their impact is built on a recognizable, consistent approach, a signature method program and way of doing things that makes their mission not just inspiring, but also actionable. With the work I have done to help women improve their lives over the past couple of decades, this is in sync with my mission. Every entrepreneur, coach, or consultant can benefit from creating their own signature method program. Not just a product or service, but a unique framework that not only shares your secret sauce but also becomes your calling card.
At its core, a signature program is distinctive, repeatable process that delivers consistent results and reflects your unique expertise. Think of it like a chef’s signature dish that you cannot stop salivating for, or the designer who you cannot wait until they release a new product and even if there were no labels or menus, you know exactly where it came from and who made it. Your signature program is more than what you do. It is more about how you do it, the transformation you can deliver, and the value people can depend on because it came from you, and they know your brand is dependable. When someone hears your name, your methods and signature program should be what comes to their mind. When I was an event manager, I remember when people would walk into the space they would say this looks like a Wendy event, now as The Purpose Partner, people will often say is Wendy coaching or helping you? Let your actions speak louder than your words.
For those of us who are entrepreneurs or run small businesses this is a powerful lesson. It is not necessary for us to have a massive platform to have a signature method program. However, we must make sure we are clear on what we are promising as our takeaways and that we have a proven process, and a recognizable way of delivering value to those who hire us. When your clients know what you stand for and how you will help them, they are more likely to trust you and refer you to others. When you have a signature program, it will help you explain to others what exactly you do without hesitancy. If you do not already have your network or community, eventually they will find you because your work will speak for itself.
For those of you who do not have a signature method program, and you are ready to develop one you can start today. Start by identifying your strengths and then ask yourself what result people will achieve after working with you. Then outline the process and make it clear on what your clients need to do to achieve their desired goals. Then give it a name. It does not have to be complicated just make sure it is well defined and able to be consistently delivered. Your signature program is your promise to the world. What can you promise that you know you can deliver? #SignatureMethodProgram #ToryBurchFoundation #WendyGladney #ThePurposePartner
